Ryukyu indigo dyed a rough and idyllic cotton cloth wrapped pants.

Ryukyu indigo is an ancient Okinawan indigo dyeing technique. The raw material is a perennial plant in the acanthus family called yama-ai. In summer and winter, the branches and leaves are cut off, soaked in water and fermented until they become a muddy dye. Garments are dyed in fifteen to thirty cycles in pots of indigo dyes, resulting in a vivid purple-blue color.
